Meet Sassy Lady
Sassy Lady was found wandering in the woods and was saved by a good Samaritan. She was brought to the Newark Associated Humane Society in March of 2025. She struggled in the shelter... Peace Pointe pulled her on July 18th! She is now in foster care and we are beginning to get to know this Sassy Lady.
Sassy Lady is exactly as her name sounds! She was clearly someone's companion before she either ran away or was abandoned. She is fully house trained, and very comfortable on the couch. She can be sassy with new dogs at first, but then wants to play. Her biggest gripe is chaos - Sassy Lady does not do well when things are chaotic, which is why the shelter was so hard for her. She would do well in a home with or without another dog. Sassy Lady is currently a bit overweight, so we are working on her diet and getting her exercise everyday to get her to a more comfortable weight so she can properly groom herself.
Right now, being a bit overweight, Sassy has become accustomed to scratching her back on whatever she can find. Just like Baloo the bear from Jungle Book! She is very funny - and thankful for a good rub when she knows you, and trusts you not to hurt her.
Sassy Lady can be very scared of people who she doesn't know, so she requires slow introductions and respectful people who will give her time before trying to pet her. She would do best in an adult only home, or older children who are not unpredictable. Sassy Lady does NOT like the vacuum, it is very clear she had quite the rivalry with a vacuum in her old home. However, in only a week in foster care, she has made progress on this front!
Sassy Lady sits well when asked, and seems to know down and come as well. Sassy Lady does not like to be crated, but has been great being left out - not a destructive bone in her body. She just wants to lounge when you're not home.
Sassy needs an adopter who will be patient and unafraid of her sassiness. Someone who can calmly lead her to a more peaceful future. It is clear she was mistreated and/or misunderstood by her previous companions. She has some bad habits, like not wanting to share toys with her foster siblings, and begging for food and not wanting to share her view of said food. However, she has made progress here as well! She wants to interact with her foster siblings, and respects them when they want to be left alone. So she could be a good companion for a family with dog/s who are respectful to her space. She could also be very happy being an only dog with a person who will cherish her and hang out on the couch with her and go on strolls.
She loves to play fetch, and loves toys! She will carry them around, roll around with them, and be gentle with them. Although she doesn't want to share her toys at the moment, we believe with time and patience she may learn sharing isn't so bad.
3 months in the shelter made her a bit jumpy and nervous, but with time and patience here at Peace Pointe she has become very happy, silly, playful, and talkative! She bonded to her foster mom very quickly, but also warmed up to foster dad within a week as well. She would make a wonderful companion to the right person or family who is willing to love her through her trauma and help her overcome her difficult past.

Animals are Our Family
Embarking on Animal Parenthood or Stewardship is a big commitment. If you’re ready for that amazing journey, we’d love to have you join the Peace Pointe Pack!
At Peace Pointe we offer services for families struggling to keep the peace at home. Our no-judgment re-homing of dogs and small mammals is an additional service we seek to offer the community.
We wish to work alongside existing 501(c)3 animal rescues to promote their good work & the animals they host, through art, film, events and social media.
As we become operational, our goal is to Rescue as many individual animals as we can and create as many peaceful families as pawsible. We hope to exemplify the connection between animal rescue and plant-based living, or ethical veganism.
The Point is Peace.
